2009 6-Hour Astute team report
24-11-09 by Mark M
A few laps later, my upper body and legs started aching, and I saw the same corner introduce me to a polystyrene cup and again, I couldn’t miss it blowing straight into me like I was a target. Watching it go out the back gave me confidence to get going. After a nasty loss of concentration a little later on the flip-flop, I ran wide on the fast and bumpy flip flop over turn 11, where I ran to and on the ripple strip which was not friendly to ride over. Ouch!! I’m ok, the crowd would have loved that yet I certainly didn’t. Time to pull in.
Kev rode another stint, consistent and strong as always, then Jim Mr Super Smooth (and fast!), then me a final 25-min dash to hand over to Jim to blast us the the flag. Jim made up 66 seconds from our nearest rival for the top spot on the podium for Superstock 600cc and we were chuffed. Watching by to cheer him passed the line with main Sponsor Astute Financial Management right beside us was an exhilarating experience. A job well done, and home in one piece, bike and spares intact! Couldn’t have done it without our team, Dave Marik head mechanic, Mandy, Spencer Evans (APWR on Chard Road, Brookvale, he sprayed up our bike to make us look GREAT!), and Stewy Corner flying down from QLD to both help us and the Bancell Association event Sat night was a great crew. Managed well by Peter Dunstan, who made sure riders remained fresh and the garage went like clockwork. A massive thanks to my team-mates. The Corcoran brothers of Super slick Jim and Bull dog Mr Consistency Kevvy. Thanks guys!!! 2 form 2 Jim!”
