2009 Sydney Motorcycle Show wrap up
24-11-09 by Mark M
Electric bike manufacturer Zero Motorcycles had their range flying high and will be introducing a road version in the near future. Exciting times ahead for the company and they seem to be a lot further down the road in terms of development than some of the other ‘electric freshmen’.
Troy Bayliss dropped by for a chat with the ‘MC to everyone’ Ken Wootton and told the fans he’s slowly but surely weening himself off racing rather than going cold turkey and can be seen at many of the races through the year signing autographs.
The stunt bike, freestyle motocross, trials and mini moto action were all kicking off and putting on a fantastic show for the crowd despite the soaring heat.
There were plenty of other stands around the show providing all kinds of services from adventure travel to aftermarket modifications with plenty of apparel available as well. What was encouraging to see were the amount of new brands entering the Australian market such as Rev’it motorcycle apparel available in Australia exclusively through BikeBiz (www.bikebiz.com.au/enter.html) and of course the aforementioned Victory and Fischer brand of motorcycles.
Whether you’ve seen or ridden most of the bikes on show, there’s still nothing like being around like-minded people and checking out all of the new models under one roof. Throw in some amazing entertainment from the stunt riders and a little bit of celebrity shoulder rubbing and the Sydney Motorcycle Show is an absolute winner.
