Ducati’s long-awaited 2010 Multistrada 1200 has finally seen the light of day and is a dramatic overhaul of the existing model.

Available as Multistrada 1200, Multistrada 1200s Sport and Multistrada 1200s Touring, the Italian do-it-all bike gets an L-Twin cylinder, 4 valve per cylinder, Desmodromic, liquid cooled engine with a claimed 150 hp – 110,3 kw @ 9250 rpm and torque figures of 87,5 lb-ft 118,7 Nm @ 7500 rpm.

The wet, multiplate clutch features a light action, with hydraulic control with self-servo action on drive, slipper action on over-run.

At the front, the 43mm Showa forks of the old model exit stage left and make way for bigger Marzocchi 50mm fully adjustable upside-down versions. For the rear the Sachs shock remains and so does, thankfully, the aluminium single-sided swingarm.

Disc size and calipers remain for the brakes although ABS is available if you ask nicely per favore.

Dry weight is a claimed 417lb (189kg) with the seat height at 850mm while the 20L tank including reserve remains.

The Multistrada Sport is equipped with carbon fibre components such as cam belt covers, air intakes and hugger. The Multistrada Touring’s comfort and style is enhanced with side panniers, heated grips and centre stand. Both ‘S’ versions get the innovative DES system (Ducati Electronic Suspension) that electronically adjusts the Öhlins suspsension and ABS.

Also standard on the ‘S’ models, are Ohlins 48mm fully adjustable upsidedown forks at the front with electronic compression and rebound udjusters. The rear comes to the party with fully adjustable Öhlins electronic monoshock.

Pricing and availability have yet to be announced for Australia. More details to follow.
