Just as Livio Suppo sent shockwaves around the MotoGP paddock by resigning from Ducati’s MotoGP team, Davide Tardozzi has done the same by deciding to leave the Ducati World Superbike Team for a future that even he is unsure of.

Tardozzi has enjoyed incredible success over the years as team manager to Carl Fogarty, Troy Corser and Troy Bayliss.

“Sometimes there are some moments when you are looking for something else in your life and something else in your career, whatever,” said Tardozzi. “I am just looking forward to having something else. I would like to have the experience of something else but nothing so far. I am waiting to see if someone will call me.”

”It is a kind of bet with yourself when you do something like that. And it is a way to be honest with the people who always have paid you, Ducati. When you do not feel any more to have the right spirit and feeling, I feel you have to leave. I do not want to be there just to hold a chair and earn a salary.”

Careful not to close doors or burn bridges, Tardozzi was keen to thank those who have made his decision possible. “I have to say thank you to Claudio Domenicali and Filippo Preziosi who let me to go away although I had a two-year contract with them. They understood what the position was and realised that it was done for human reasons, not professional reasons.”
